Alwyn and Olive began business in Abermule as a garage serving fuel, repairing vehicles and buying and selling cars. When the property behind the garage became available they bought their first Park, and as it was a former ‘Smithy’ they naturally named it Smithy Park.
Stunning Landscapes, Fresh Air And Peace
As their two boys, Glenn and Wayne, were growing up the family moved to Westbrook farm in the 1970’s, and slowly developed a small touring site into the lovely Touring Park that you see in Little Hereford today. With access to ½ mile of fishing on the River Teme, fisherman requested caravan and camping pitches alongside so that they could stay for longer and so The Bestparks Family evolved with Smithy Park and Westbrook Park.
Later, when Glenn and Wayne left school, they started working on the family farm and at Smithy and Westbrook Park, then other opportunities in the Holiday Home and Touring Park Industry came along for their sons, and they too brought Parks following in the family tradition. At one time the family owned six Parks.
Westbrook is home for Alwyn and Olive, now both in their 80’s who are still very involved and hands on with all their Parks, but helped by Wayne and Glenn. So, you may see ‘the boys’ about at Smithy and Westbrook! The family are incredibly proud of their Parks, and still maintain that the ‘Jones touch’ is key to success.
